Legislation and Guidelines:

REACH legislation aims to control chemicals that may pose a risk to human health and the environment.

If you manufacture, import or distribute chemicals or if you are a professional user of chemicals, you must register the chemicals with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI).

Under Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations you must control exposure to chemicals or hazardous substances that can damage people’s health (See COSHH A brief guide to the Regulations).

Discharge of contaminated drainage from storage areas, delivery areas, or treatment areas must not be allowed to enter surface drains or groundwater.
